The Goddess And Her Liege

She was his goddess,

he was her liege.

Then, his goddess started to go mad

and he fled on the second display

lest she strike him down in a maddening rage.

It was sad, oh so sad,

for they had been happy

…or so she thought,

till the madness came along

and robbed them of peace.

For was it not as Hafez said,

“How seamless seemed love,

and then trouble came!”

Now, all she does is mope, pine & cry.
